I strongly believe that as a society, we struggle painfully, brutally, with honesty. We hide in plain sight. We are given to fears, both real and imagined, and threats to our comfort and very existence. Sometimes with good cause. Sometimes because we have lived in these fears for so long we don’t even remember they are there.
I long for us to be more honest. To take great strides into this pit of murky depths we’ve created, filled with half-truths and spin. We need more ways to tear away the scales of deceit from our eyes and tongues and loosen the chains of fear and doubt.
One way I’ve been thinking through this is the relationships we have as a society and just how we gauge our levels of truth in them. I’m developing this list of statements and I’m curious if there are others metrics out there that will help push us.
Here are some of the questions I’ve been working on, categorized into relationship type. Some of course can be used in other categories. You can download as a PDF if you are as much of a geek as me. If you prefer, please feel free to email me robinette73 at gmail dot com.
